Sad news, as SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM Tropical WSKQ (MEGA 97.9)/NEW YORK night star JEAN PAUL GUERRERO, know as DJ JINX PAUL -- just 39 -- died after being run down by a hit-and-run driver BROOKLYN, NY.

THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports GUERRERO, "the father of a 6-year-old boy -- was crossing Jamaica Ave. at Sheffield Ave. in HIGHLAND PARK, police said, when a woman driving west in a black NISSAN MAXIMA slammed into him. Police believe the driver to be in her 20s or 30s. Authorities released video of the car after the crash, as it headed down Fulton St. past Eastern Parkway."

SBS Exec. Dir./Programming JESUS SALAS told the paper the station will do everything it can on-air to help solve the case. 
“He had a very positive aura to him, and it saddens me very much. He was one of the DJs that became very popular, very quickly, on the station,” SALAS said. “He was the type of person you always wanted on your side, and it reflected on air. “For him to have gone the way he passed, we’re all still in shock. Our listeners are calling in now and expressing their feelings of loss, because he was not only on air, but he was also active in the community.”

In a statement, the executive team of SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM and MEGA 97.9FM wrote they, "express with great dismay the sudden death of radio personality JEAN PAUL GUERRERO, DJ JINX PAUL, who was a valuable part of the #1 station in THE BIG APPLE from 7p to 12a."
