BMG has signed an exclusive agreement with influential music tastemaker WAXPLOITATION RECORDS to manage and administer the company's music publishing rights worldwide.
Founded in 1996 by JEFF ANTEBI, WAXPLOITATION is a multifaceted music company serving as a publisher, record label, and artist management company. ANTEBI developed and managed the careers of GRAMMY-winning artists including DANGER MOUSE and GNARLS BARKLEY, co-managed BROKEN BELLS, and developed projects like ROME with JACK WHITE and NORAH JONES. WAXPLOITATION RECORDS publishes a roster of artists and writer/producers from around the world whose music has been featured in commercials for APPLE, iPHONE, ADIDAS and SONY PLAYSTATION, as well as TV shows like "Homeland," "Ray Donovan" and "Breaking Bad."
Commented BMG U.S. President Repertoire & Marketing ZACH KATZ: “JEFF and his team have a unique blend of taste, culture and business acumen. They are part of a select few who continue finding new ways to connect with the creative community and their audience. We are grateful for the opportunity for BMG to align with their musical interests.”
Added ANTEBI “Our industry thrives on creative partnerships. It’s an exciting time for music discovery and artist development. The combination of WAXPLOITATION’s roster and BMG’s world-class pool of songwriters and artists opens the door for some very ambitious collaborations.”
Recently, WAXPLOITATION released its highly anticipated "Stories for Ways & Means" project which features original children’s story collaborations with TOM WAITS, NICK CAVE, ZACH GALIFIANAKIS, DANNY DEVITO, FRANK BLACK and DEVENDRA BANHART. This unprecedented literary mixtape will raise money for children’s literacy projects across the world.
