BBC Marks "John Peel Day"

TODAY (10/13) is JOHN PEEL DAY on the BBC, honoring the legendary RADIO 1 host who died a year ago. Besides programming on the station honoring PEEL (including a six hour show 7p-1a featuring many of PEEL's fellow RADIO 1 hosts), a series of tribute concerts are being held across the UK. 

Later this month, digital/online BBC 6MUSIC will add its own tribute with the replay of PEEL's first BBC broadcast from OCTOBER 1967, and RADIO 1 will air "KEEPING IT PEEL," a documentary on PEEL's legacy, on OCTOBER 17 during STEVE LAMACQ's show.
