Radio One Buys Suburban DC FM, Richmond AM From Red Zebra

RADIO ONE is buying Sports WWXT/PRINCE FREDERICK, MD (simulcast of WTEM-A (ESPN 980)/WASHINGTON) and Sports WXGI-A (ESPN 950)/RICHMOND, VA from RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING for an undisclosed price. The deal, which had been rumored in recent weeks as DAN SNYDER's RED ZEBRA was reported to be considering divesting some or all of its stations, will find WWXT flipping to a simulcast of RADIO ONE Urban AC WMMJ (MAJIC 102.3)/BETHESDA-WASHINGTON as of MAY 1st under an LMA; in RICHMOND, WXGI will be simulcast on RADIO ONE News-Talk WTPS-A and W274BX/PETERSBURG, VA.
RADIO ONE CEO ALFRED LIGGINS said, "I still believe in the power of terrestrial radio and am excited about this deal with RED ZEBRA. I'm always willing to evaluate an opportunity that allows us to grow our radio assets and continue to diversify our radio group not just through syndication and digital, but good programming that serves our listeners."
Price For Duluth Combo: $200,000
In filings with the FCC, the price for the deal, announced YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 4/19), by which RED ROCK RADIO CORP. is selling Sports WWAX (92.1 THE FAN)/HERMANTOWN-DULUTH, MN and Sports KQDS-A (KFAN 1490)/DULUTH, MN to DAN HATFIELD's TWIN PORTS RADIO, LLC is $200,000 plus a time brokerage agreement starting MAY 1st. The price was undisclosed in the brokers' announcement of the transaction.
In other filings with the FCC, TED W. AUSTIN, JR. is selling K234CM/DRIGGS, ID to BOB AND CONNIE MEIKLE for $10,000. The primary station is listed as noncommercial Adult Standards KTYN/THAYNE, WY.
NEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO has applied for an STA to continue operate News-Talk WNYC-A/NEW YORK at reduced power at night -- 930 watts -- beyond the permitted period to assess the impact of the reduction on coverage of the market and to have time to revert to its licensed operation.
WRWR-AM RADIO LLC has requested an extension of its Silent STA for WBML-A/WARNER ROBINS, GA due to transmission line problems.
ELOHIM GROUP CORPORATION has filed for Silent STAs for W232CK/GARY, IN and W272CZ/SHERIDAN, IN while they move to a new site. ELOHIM bought the stations from FRIENDS OF CHRISTIAN RADIO, INC., which sued ELOHIM to enforce the deal after ELOHIM allegedly paid the down payment, then walked away from the deal, The deal has now been settled and closed.
REGENERATION CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND OUTREACH CENTER has requested a Silent STA for low power KWAP-LP/FLORISSANT, MO due to transmitter failure.
RADIO RANCHO, LLC has closed on the sale of Adult Standards KMGR (CLASSY 102.7)/GUNNISON, UT to SANPETE COUNTY BROADCASTING COMPANY for $50,000 after closing on the purchase of the station from SLC DIVESTITURE TRUST II, spinoff trust for BROADWAY MEDIA LS, LLC, plus $200,000 in a swap for K240EP/CEDAR FORT, UT and K284AY/TOOELE, UT.
And AIRCRAFT STORAGE SOLUTIONS, LLC has closed on the sale of K232FP/CHILEAN MILL, AZ to ADVANCE MINISTRIES, INC. for $3,000. The translator will rebroadcast EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION noncommercial Contemporary Christian KLVH (K-LOVE)/PRESCOTT, AZ.
