ALL ACCESS extends sympathies to family and friends of former programmer and COUNTRY RADIO HALL OF FAME (CRHOF) member MOON MULLINS, following his passing last NIGHT (5/15). News of MULLINS’ death was posted on his FACEBOOK page TODAY (5/16) by his grandson, BRENT RAY BYRUM. “My beloved grandfather passed away last night. I will see you up there some day. Til then, look down on and guide me to be a great a man as you were. Love you dearly.”
A 2009 CRHOF inductee, MULLINS’ radio career began in 1961 at KKAZ/DENVER CITY, TX and includes early stops at KLLL/LUBBOCK, TX and KCKN/KANSAS CITY. In 1969, he took his first Program Director position at KFDI/WICHITA, followed by PD positions at WINN/LOUISVILLE, WDAF/KANSAS CITY, and WHN/NEW YORK
In 1991 he became a consultant with the POLLACK MEDIA GROUP, and in 1994 founded FIRST TRACK OF NASHVILLE, a music research company. He founded the MOON MULLINS COMPANY in 1995 and became group Country Program Director for JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP in1999. In 2005 he took a position as OM/Mornings for WBKR and WOMI/OWENSBORO, KY.
