RYAN LEAF is joining SIRIUSXM COLLEGE SPORTS NATION as a college football analyst and will be heard several times per week starting TODAY (8/16) alongside JASON HOROWITZ 1-4p (ET). LEAF, the number one NFL draft pick in 1998 from WASHINGTON STATE who notoriously flopped with the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS, has become a spokesman and advocate for drug abuse recovery treatment after his own recovery from drug abuse and legal woes.
"I'm really grateful for this amazing opportunity that SIRIUSXM has afforded me,” said LEAF. “I love college football and am very happy to be in a position where I’m discussing and analyzing the topics and news from around the world of college football, rather than being the one the news is about! I’m very excited to get started on this new chapter."
“RYAN was a very exciting college player with undeniable talent, and his knowledge of the college game then and now is outstanding,” said SIRIUSXM SVP of Sports Programming STEVE COHEN. “While his struggles are well known, his recovery in recent years has been inspiring and we look forward to having him on our team at SIRIUSXM. Not only will he make our listeners smarter about the game, he will motivate a lot of people around the country.”
LEAF presently works as Program Ambassador for TRANSCEND RECOVERY COMMUNITY and has his own FOCUSED INTENSITY FOUNDATION that raises funding for people who cannot afford treatment.
