VEVO was hacked by OURMINE, which posted more than three terabytes of internal documents and video content online — before removing them later FRIDAY morning at VEVO’s request, VARIETY reports. VEVO attributed the hack to a phishing scam via LINKEDIN.
Among the stolen documents were dossiers on about 90 artists, including documents labeled “premieres,” as well as marketing info, international social-media documents, and other internal files. “We have addressed the issue and are investigating the extent of exposure,” VEVO said in a statement.
In a post on its site, OURMINE admitted that it leaked the VEVO files late THURSDAY after interacting with a VEVO employee who allegedly told the hackers, “F— off, you don’t have anything.”
