URBAN ONE is suing a former employee -- accusing AMIR SHABAZZ of hijacking the TWITTER account of Urban WCDX (iPOWER 92.1-104.1)/RICHMOND,VA. The suit also names TWITTER, blaming the company for not quickly moving to fix the situation.
In a lawsuit filed in VIRGINIA, URBAN ONE claims the former parttimer changed the username and password of the station's account, and, “communicated lewd and/or pornographic material.” SHABAZZ is also accused of renaming the iPOWERRICHMOND TWITTER account to “HennyTalk75,” and creating yet another account named “iPOWERRICHMOND” to prevent the station from being able to use that username again.
URBAN ONE values each TWITTER follower ar $2.50 per month, writing, “Given iPOWER RICHMOND’s approximately 12,500 followers on or about AUGUST 11, 2017, the TWITTER account had a value of $31,250/month.”
