CONCORD MUSIC has acquired the SAVOY LABEL GROUP, which is comprised of SAVOY JAZZ Catalogue, Adult Rock/Alternative label 429 RECORDS and an extensive classical catalogue. What's more, CONCORD MUSIC has entered into a multi-year consulting and production deal with former SAVOY owner STEVE VINING, who will deliver new recording projects to CONCORD's various labels.
In all, the deal includes over 3,000 master classic recordings from artists such as CHARLIE PARKER, DIZZY GILLESPIE, MILES DAVIS, JOHN COLTRANE, ERROLL GARNER, CANNONBALL ADDERLEY, DEXTER GORDON, FATS NAVARRO and many others. The collection also includes more recent recordings by PAT MARTINO, PHIL WOODS, ETTA JONES, BILL FRISELL, BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY, LARRY CORYELL, ANDY BEY, RAVI COLTRANE and MILTON NASCIMENTO.
429 RECORDS features titles by MEAT LOAF, BOZ SCAGGS, LL COOL J, ROBBIE ROBERTSON, JOAN ARMATRADING, LOS LOBOS, MACY GRAY, PAUL RODGERS, LITTLE FEAT, CRACKER, CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN, DR. JOHN, MICK FLEETWOOD, BRUCE HORNSBY, ROBERTA FLACK and JOE COCKER, among others.
SLG's classical offerings feature works by Dutch violinist ANDRE RIEU as well as the LONDON SYMPHONY & PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRAS, BERLIN SYMPHONY, DRESDEN STAATSKAPELLE, CONCERTGEBOUW, MOSCOW and LENINGRAD PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRAS and soloists like SVIATOSLAV RICHTER and ALICIA DE LARROCHA, among others.
"SAVOY is a great combination of both legendary masters and incredible recent recordings by a number of wonderful contemporary artists," CONCORD MUSIC COO GLEN BARROS said. "We are so very proud that it is now a part of CONCORD MUSIC. And as STEVE VINING has done a great job of building SAVOY over the recent past, we very much look forward to all that he will bring to our company in the future."
"The addition of SAVOY to CONCORD MUSIC is consistent with our ongoing growth strategy, as it deepens our presence within a number of core genres," CONCORD MUSIC Chief Business Development Officer STEVE SALM said. "It also adds numerous classic recordings and another legendary brand to our great group of labels."
"CONCORD's enormous success in many of the same musical genres SLG has pursued convinces me they will be outstanding stewards of both the rich catalog as well as the new recordings to come from our very talented artists," STEVE VINING said.
