DAYSTAR PUBLIC RADIO, INC. is selling Jazz WKSG (89.5 THE BOULEVARD)/CEDAR CREEK-OCALA, FL to COMMUNITY COMMUNICATIONS, INC. for $900,000.
In other filings with the FCC, MARIANA BROADCASTING INC., as previously indicated, is donating Oldies WGHT-A/POMPTON LAKES, NJ to the BOROUGH OF POMPTON LAKES, including the station's real estate.
More TED TUCKER Consent Decree-ordered spinoffs have been filed with the donation by COCHISE COMMUNITY RADIO CORPORATION of KDNM/RESERVE, NM to KUTE, INC., the donation by COCHISE BROADCASTING LLC of KZLM/LEWISTOWN, MT to HI-LINE RADIO FELLOWSHIP INC., and the donation by COCHISE MEDIA LICENSES LLC of KHSK/ALLEN, NE to the WINNEBAGO TRIBE OF NEBRASKA and KZNM/MILAN, NM to KUTE, INC. The FCC Consent Decree requires TUCKER to divest several stations due to their being off the air for extended periods without proper permission.
BEN F. STINSON III is selling K222CP/DURANGO, CO and K257DQ/FARMINGTON, NM to AMERICAN GENERAL MEDIA-affiliated WINTON ROAD BROADCASTING CO., LLC for $500. The stations will continue to rebroadcast Top 40 KKDG (99X)/DURANGO and Country KISZ (KISS COUNTRY)/CORTEZ, CO, respectively.
Filing for Silent STAs were BROADCASTING FOR THE CHALLENGED, INC. (WKWR/KEY WEST, damage from Hurricane Irma); FRIENDS OF PUBLIC RADIO, INC. (W244DH/WILMINGTON, NC, antenna problems); GOOD NEWS RADIO (K209AK/PALM SPRINGS, CA, transmitter drifting off frequency); and ST. SIMONS RADIO, INC. (WWEZ-LP/ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA, damage from Hurricane Irma);
Requesting extensions of Silent STAs were KONA COAST RADIO, LLC (KFNZ-A/SALT LAKE CITY, seeking new tower site) and MINISTERIOS CENTRO CRISTIANO ZION (KTZB-LP/PASCO, WA, "technical issue").
SUN BROADCASTING, INC. has applied for an STA to operate W290DB/NAPLES, FL without its primary station until Hurricane Irma-related damage to the STL is repaired. The station relays Sports WNOG-A (FOX SPORTS FM)/NAPLES.
And nonprofit blind advocacy group ENVISION BROADCAST NETWORK has closed on its merger with ROCKING M MEDIA, LLC. The merger covers Country KKGQ (KANSAS COUNTRY 92.3)/WICHITA.
The FCC also denied BIG RIVER PUBLIC BROADCASTING CORPORATION's Petition for Reconsideration of the dismissal of its application to upgrade noncommercial Variety KIYU-F/GALENA, AK to Class C3 and jump from 10 to 1,000 watts, ruling that the application was outside a filing window. The applicant contended that the rules specify that Class D stations in ALASKA can file for major changes at any time, but the Commission interpreted the rule exception to apply only to stations which, after the change, would still be 10 watt stations which "can be accommodated without great harm."
And YOUNGERS COLORADO BROADCASTING LLC has turned in its license for KPCR/FOWLER, CO.
In a deal yet to be filed with the FCC, veteran BURLINGTON, VT radio personality STEVE CORMIER is buying the RADIO VERMONT stations -- Variety WDEV-A/WATERBURY-WDEV-F/WARREN, Country WLVB/MORRISVILLE, and AC WEXP (101 THE ONE)/BRANDON -- from KEN SQUIER for an undisclosed amount. CORMIER, the current RADIO VERMONT Director of Sales, will take over operations under an LMA effective OCTOBER 1st; VP/GM ERIC MICHAELS will exit upon the changeover.
