The UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (USC) broke ground on WEDNESDAY (10/11) for the USC JIMMY IOVINE AND ANDRE YOUNG ACADEMY FOR ARTS, TECHNOLOGY AND THE BUSINESS OF INNOVATION. Music industry icons, JIMMY IOVINE and ANDRE "DR DRE" YOUNG launched the academy in 2013 with a $70 million donation to USC.
The idea behind the USC IOVINE AND YOUNG ACADEMY is to provide a curriculum that cohesively studies culture, technology and business within the school. Students receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. The USC IOVINE AND YOUNG ACADEMY also debuted an online master’s program this year.
USC IOVINE AND YOUNG ACADEMY will have its first graduating class in MAY, but has already produced its first startup. MIRA, an augmented reality company, which debuted its $100 PRISM augmented reality headset, at COMIC-CON in SAN DIEGO in JULY.
The new building is scheduled to open in 2019. See more details from USC NEWS here.
