There's more news regarding the fate of WEBSTER PUBLIC RELATIONS today (11/2), following WEDNESDAY's confusion as to whether or not the company is still in operation. After first declaring itself closed for business, a later statement said WEBSTER remained open, but under the banner of WESTBY PR, led by WEBSTER founder KIRT WEBSTER's right hand, JEREMY WESTBY (NET NEWS 11/1).
Today (11/2), VARIETY is reporting, and JEREMY WESTBY has confirmed with ALL ACCESS, that he has left WEBSTER, and formed his own firm, WESTBY PR, calling it "100% my company." Additionally, WESTBY has brought a number of former WEBSTER clients along to his new company, among them, THE OAK RIDGE BOYS, and NRA COUNTRY. WESTBY tells ALL ACCESS his roster is "still in flux, but yes, there will be some coming my way."
VARIETY is also reporting the defection of as many as 34 WEBSTER clients from the firm's roster since WEDNESDAY, most notably, longtime anchor client DOLLY PARTON. The departure of WESTBY, and fellow WEBSTER associate SCOTT ADKINS, who also opened his own firm yesterday (NET NEWS 11/1) come on the heels of numerous claims of sexual harassment charges leveled at KIRT WEBSTER. He's still listed as Pres./CEO of his firm, in spite of WEDNESDAY's statement saying WEBSTER will take, "some time away from the business to focus on combating the egregious and untrue allegations made against him."
In addition to WESTBY and ADKINS, other WEBSTER staffers said to be leaving the firm include KELLI WASILAUSKI, LINDSAY WHITE, and DANA KYLE.
