THE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME nominees for 2018 include performing artists such as MARIAH CAREY, N.W.A, THE PRETENDERS’ CHRISSIE HYNDE, ALICE COOPER, ALAN JACKSON, JOHN MELLENCAMP, TRACY CHAPMAN, JIMMY CLIFF, THE ISLEY BROTHERS, KOOL & THE GANG, TOM T. HALL, and BILL ANDERSON, the LA TIMES reports.
Non-performing songwriters nominated include MAURICE STARR, ALLEE WILLIS, MIKE CHAPMAN, RANDY GOODRUM, WILLIAM “MICKEY” STEVENSON, STEVE DORFF, TONY MACAULAY, and JERMAINE DUPRI, as well as songwriting teams KYE FLEMING and DENNIS MORGAN, DENNY RANDELL and SANDY LINZER, plus L. RUSSELL BROWN and IRWIN LEVINE. Writers are eligible after 20 years after their initial songwriting successes. The annual induction ceremony is usually held in NEW YORK sometime in JUNE.
