President DONALD J. TRUMP has put the traditional weekly presidential radio address on hiatus, a suspension confirmed by the VOICE OF AMERICA in a question at the daily WHITE HOUSE press briefing MONDAY (11/20).
Press Secretary SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS said, "We received quite a few comments and a lot of feedback that the weekly address wasn’t being used to its full potential. We're looking at different ways that we can revamp that and make it where it’s more beneficial and gets more information out." SANDERS declined to indicate whether the radio address will be permanently silenced.
TRUMP's last radio address was on OCTOBER 13th; the President had recorded an address every week for the first nine months of his administration. The tradition, based on President FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT's "fireside chats," was revived in 1982 by President RONALD REAGAN.
