Russia's Radio Sputnik Adds Second Washington, DC Signal Via WZHF-A

MULTICULTURAL BROADCASTING (WAY BROADCASTING LICENSEE, LLC) Regional Mexican WZHF-A (FIESTA 1390)/CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD-WASHINGTON has flipped to the Russian-produced English-language RADIO SPUTNIK News-Talk format from SPUTNIK NEWS. The format has been airing on WKYS-HD3-W288BS since JULY.

In a post at SPUTNIK NEWS' website, the move is explained as offering a "wider range than FM, meaning that more viewers (sic) will be exposed to alternative perspectives on current events that you won't hear anywhere else."  The network is operated by Russian government-controlled news agency ROSSIYA SEGODNYA and is described by critics as a propaganda outlet for the Russian government.
