He's riding off into an IDAHO sunset, as BOB LILLEY retired at the end of THE BLAZY & BOB SHOW last WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd. The show is currently airing in morning drive on MAPLETON Classic Rock KHIP (THE HIPPO)/MONTEREY, CA and sister station KIOO (99.7 CLASSIC ROCK)/VISALIA, CA.
He didn’t make a big deal of things, just quickly announcing (in part), "My time on the air has come to a close. I’m going to retire after 41 years on the air. Over the past couple of years I’ve had some health problems that I hope you haven’t been able to detect.” He ended with “adios.”
LILLEY gets to sleep in for his birthday, as he turns 65 TODAY (11/30). His radio stops included BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY's KBSU, Top 40 powershouse KFXD-A (SUPER 58), SEATTLE’s KZOK, then KISW. In 1987, he met BLAZY and they had a 7 year run, gaining the highest ratings ever for SAN JOSE heritage rocker, KOME, twice winning ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE’s Radio Station of the Year award. The duo split in 1994, and LILLEY was on a short time at 610 KFRC/SAN FRANCISCO, then back to BOISE as PD at KLCI, no longer in business. In 2009, BLAZY & BOB reunited, and for the past 8 years have been syndicated in CALIFORNIA.
LILLEY will retire in his hometown of BOISE, ID.
