Amazon's Alexa Had An App-y Christmas

As predicted, smart speaker technology was a popular CHRISTMAS gift this year, with AMAZON's Alexa being the most downloaded app for ANDROID and iPHONE on CHRISTMAS day, BUSINESS INSIDER reports. The ALEXA app is required to set up AMAZON's Echo devices and other products with the ALEXA digital assistant built in. 

GOOGLE's app for its Home line of smart speakers finished second in the Android app store and sixth in the iPHONE store. FACEBOOK Messenger third was third in ANDROID's app store, likely benefiting from the demise of AOL Instant Messenger on DEC. 15th.
