Report: Google and Comcast Considering Minority Stake in AOL

The WALL STREET JOURNAL reports that GOOGLE and COMCAST CORP. may bid as much as $5 billion to buy a minority stake in AMERICA ONLINE’s website network and instant messaging business (rather than the company’s shrinking dial-up Internet access business). AOL is the Internet’s No. 2 website network, with 112 million U.S. visitors last month, which trails YAHOO!, the number one destination, by 11 million visitors.
