PODCASTONE SPORTS NET will distribute ASSOCIATED PRESS reports from national and international sporting events, starting with the WINTER OLYMPICS. The deal will add AP reports to PODCASTONE's sports podcast lineup; AP news reports currently appear on PODCASTONE non-sports offerings.
PODCASTONE Chairman NORM PATTIZ said, “This will provide AP and PODCASTONE subscribers with real-time, daily news reports, commentary and original content. It will provide additional power to the explosive growth of podcasting, while taking maximum advantage of the unmatched connection to listeners that podcasts already provide. AP SPORTS is everywhere with on-the-ground, first-hand coverage that will now be available via podcasts as never before.”
“We are excited to work with PODCASTONE to bring AP’s unrivaled worldwide sports coverage to a new audience through on-demand digital audio programming --- a growing medium,” said AP Dir./Digital and Commercial Markets ANTHONY BRITO. “The expertise of our reporters and hosts, coupled with AP SPORTS content and PODCASTONE’s vast network makes for a winning combination for sports fans everywhere.”
PODCASTONE is also adding "RED CIRCLE SPORTS WITH DENNIS MILLER," "RIGGLE’S PICKS," and "REAL GM" to the PODCASTONE SPORTSNET lineup, and the content produced by AP and PODCASTONE SPORTSNET will be distributed on AP platforms as well as through PODCASTONE.
The first podcast to emerge from the deal is "AP SPORTS WEEKLY," hosted by AP national sports columnist JIM LITKE. PODCASTONE VP of Sports and Business Development CASEY JACOBS said, “As more and more people consume podcasts on a daily basis, it’s vital that we continue to deliver the highest caliber of content and uniquely immersive experiences. Expanding on the recent launch of our PODCASTONE SPORTS NETWORK, working with a first-rate news agency like THE ASSOCIATED PRESS ensures unparalleled access and in-depth coverage of sports internationally. The AP’s global network of reporters and sports experts is unmatched, and we’re thrilled to be working with their team as they break into this exciting industry.”
