Bobby Bones Named 'American Idol' Mentor For Upcoming Season

PREMIERE syndicated "THE BOBBY BONES SHOW" host BOBBY BONES announced on his show today (2/21) that he's been selected as an "AMERICAN IDOL" mentor for the upcoming season, which debuts SUNDAY, MARCH 11th, on ABC-TV.

BONES told the AUSTIN AMERICAN STATESMAN, "(I do) bring something to the show, meaning I've worked in a lot of different formats, and these singers are going to be singing a lot of different things. I think I'll bring perspective to that side of it instead of being another singer or another artist." BONES fronts a band called THE RAGING IDIOTS, who tour nationally, performing parody songs and raising money for charitable causes. On "IDOL," he'll appear alongside judges LUKE BRYAN, KATY PERRY, and LIONEL RICHIE, as the singing competition makes its comeback after a two-year layoff.
