ENTERCOM has blown up Top 40 KEGY (ENERGY 97.3)/SAN DIEGO as expected (NET NEWS 2/15), flipping at 2:30p (PT) TODAY to stunting with an Active Rock format with MOTLEY CRUE, the BEASTIE BOYS, METALLICA, and other classic cuts.
But a little sleuthing by ALL ACCESS turned up a site for "97.3 THE MACHINE, TALK THAT ROCKS," a hybrid "guy talk"/Active Rock format with sister ENTERCOM Rock KISW/SEATTLE syndicated afternoon show THE MEN'S ROOM listed in both morning and afternoon drives and, also as previewed by ALL ACCESS, former crosstown BCA Sports XEPRS-A (MIGHTY 1090) morning man DAN SILEO in the 10a-2p (PT) slot; evenings are listed as "Music and Comedy." Is that the ultimate destination format for 97.3, also becoming the new radio home of the SAN DIEGO PADRES this season, or is this a sleight of ear? And is the playing of PINK FLOYD's "Welcome to the Machine" at the top of the 3p and 4p hours a further tip? Stay tuned....
