iPhones may not (or may) have unactivated FM chips inside, but a new headset aims to address that with its own FM tuner chip controllable with an iOS (or Android, for other phones) app.
BLACKLOUD, with design partners TEMPO SEMICONDUCTOR INC. (TSI) and SILICON LABS, are unveiling the SOUNDOT AF1 (for iPhones and iPads using Lightning connectors) and CF1 (for devices with USB-C/USB Micro connectors) headsets at the NAB SHOW in LAS VEGAS next week. The headsets offer users free FM whether or not their phones have tuner chips or are connected to the Internet via Wifi or LTE.
