BILL WATTENBURG, the former longtime late-night host at KGO-A/SAN FRANCISCO, has passed away after a battle with cancer at 82, according to the PALO ALTO DAILY POST.
WATTENBURG, a former nuclear weapons designer at LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY and professor at the UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY, was hired by KGO in 1972 to host "THE OPEN LINE TO THE WEST COAST" on SATURDAY and SUNDAY nights; he hosted the show until DECEMBER 2011. More recently, "DR. BILL" was heard on ZWERLING News-Talk KSCO-A/SANTA CRUZ and TALK RADIO NETWORK.
