An end of an era has arrived at HUBBARD Sports KSTP-A (1500 ESPN TWIN CITIES)/MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL with the announcement that longtime hosts JOE SOUCHERAY and PATRICK REUSSE will be leaving the station as of SEPTEMBER 7th, bringing to an end SOUCHERAY's 1-3p (CT) "GARAGE LOGIC," REUSSE's afternoon "THE RIDE WITH REUSSE," and the crossover "SPORTS TALK." In addition, ALL ACCESS hears that PD BRAD LANE has also exited the station as changes for the ESPN RADIO affiliate loom; LANE posted his departure news on Facebook with thanks to HUBBARD for his 20 years at the station.
SOUCHERAY, a columnist for the ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, will continue "GARAGE LOGIC" as a podcast, although it is presently unclear whether the show will continue to be produced and distributed through its present PODCASTONE arrangement or with HUBBARD's participation, nor whether the cast of producer/sidekick MATT "THE ROOKIE" MICHALSKI, CHRIS REUVERS, and newsman JOHN HEIDT will be involved. The show, a political and humor program based in the mythical town of GARAGE LOGIC in the mythical GUMPTION COUNTY, MINNESOTA, has been regionally syndicated for its entire run at KSTP, beginning when the station was still in the News-Talk format.
"I'm going to be 73... I shouldn't BE on the air!," REUSSE, a nominee for the BASEBALL HALL OF FAME's J.G. TAYLOR SPINK Award for his work at the MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE, joked in a phone call to SOUCHERAY on FRIDAY (8/10). For his part, SOUCHERAY voiced gratitude that the station is allowing him to remain on the air through SEPTEMBER 7th (including the annual appearance at the MINNESOTA STATE FAIR), noting, "The usual way it happens is you are told, ‘Your last show was yesterday.’ They’ve told us we can handle this any way we want."
The two hosts have been on the air at KSTP in various configurations since the debut of "MONDAY NIGHT SPORTS TALK" on SEPTEMBER 12th, 1983; "GARAGE LOGIC" has been a staple at the station since 1993.
I will make this guarantee: When I return Monday, @ChrisReuvers, @MannyHill84 & I will work extra-hard to make the last month of The Ride a fine radio show.

Of course, if we had worked extra-hard earlier ... who knows?
