Legendary MUSIC ROW executive CONNIE BRADLEY, whose groundbreaking direction of ASCAP in NASHVILLE coincided with leadership roles on the COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA) Board, was surprised with the CMA's IRVING WAUGH AWARD OF EXCELLENCE yesterday (8/14) in NASHVILLE. BLUE CHAIR/WARNER BROS./WEA artist KENNY CHESNEY and SONY ATV PUBLISHING Pres./CEO TROY TOMLINSON presented the honor to BRADLEY during the CMA's quarterly board meetings.
"I’ve been very blessed to have won Entertainer Of The Year four times with this organization, and one of the years that I won, I actually saw CONNIE standing in the audience, and I thanked her by saying she was one of the best friends that a dreamer could ever have," said CHESNEY. "I meant that, and I still mean it, and I love you." During her three decades with ASCAP, BRADLEY rose to Sr. VP, heading the NASHVILLE operation, signing DIERKS BENTLEY, GARTH BROOKS, ALAN JACKSON, CHESNEY, and many others. BRADLEY was a CMA Board member from 1983-2012, serving as Chairwoman and President during that time.
The IRVING WAUGH AWARD OF EXCELLENCE recognizes an individual who is the originator and caretaker of demonstrated ideas and actions that have dramatically broadened and improved Country music's influence on a national or international level for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
