The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards returned to NEW YORK CITY's RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL last night and people left talking about a big performance from JENNIFER LOPEZ, CAMILA CABELLO's big night and MADONNA's less than well received tribute to ARETHA FRANKLIN.
The big winners:
- Video Vanguard: JENNIFER LOPEZ
- Video Of The Year: CAMILA CABELLO ft. YOUNG THUG – “Havana”
- Artist Of The Year: Camila Cabello
- Song Of The Year: POST MALONE ft. 21 SAVAGE – “rockstar”

As for MADONNA, PEOPLE MAGAZINE reports, "Before presenting video of the year to CAMILA CABELLO, MADONNA delivered a speech in which she outlined the role ARETHA FRANKLIN had played in launching her own career. 'ARETHA LOUISE FRANKLIN changed the course of my life. I left DETROIT when I was 18. Thirty-five dollars in my pocket. My dream was to make it as a professional dancer. After years of struggling and being broke, I decided to go to auditions for musical theater,' she said. Further discussing her past experience, MADONNA recalled her early years as a struggling artist."
But many viewers and artists took to social media to complain the speech seemed to be more about THE MATERIAL GIRL than THE QUEEN OF SOUL.
