ALL ACCESS originally told you about RADIO MILWAUKEE Triple A WYMS’ concept BACKLINE in partnership with business accelerator GENER8TORback in MARCH of this year.  The educational initiative was conceived to help MILWAUKEE musicians succeed, establish MILWAUKEE’s reputation as an emerging music city and help the city's companies attract and retain young employees (3/28 story)

Now, BACKLINE has announced the four musical artists who will receive the program’s first $20,000 grants and intensive 12-week mentorships. Designed to help MILWAUKEE-area musicians break out, BACKLINE has selected these artists for its first accelerator program and grants:

• Soul/pop artist LEXALLEN.
• EDM producer CRYSTAL KNIVES.
• Songwriter, singer and producer ABBY JEANNE.
• Alternative hip-hop/rap artist ZED KENZO.

“Among the many talented musicians who applied, these four stood out to the
judges as being most ready to make huge leaps forward in their careers,” said BACKLINE Program Director MAG RODRIGUEZ.
