HUBBARD RADIO Classic Rock WDRV (97-1 THE DRIVE)/CHICAGO's SHERMAN & TINGLE show recently completed a charitable effort to benefit homeless pets that totaled over $60,000.
The donation campaign raised money through an event called “Boataoke.” Hosted by SHERMAN, TINGLE and Exec. Producer JILL EGAN, the karaoke-meets-cruise event accommodated hundreds of pet lovers onboard “The Summer of George,” a passenger vessel that cruises The CHICAGO RIVER and LAKE MICHIGAN.
All proceeds from tickets, auction items and monetary donations benefitted Wright-Way Rescue, a non-profit organization whose mission aims to reduce the number of homeless pets euthanized in the MIDWEST each year.
Wright-Way Rescue Founder/Director CHRISTY ANDERSON commented, “We are so thankful for everyone at THE DRIVE, everyone who attended 'Boataoke' and, of course, the IRVING and PHYLLIS MILLSTEIN Charitable Trust for Animals for making this happen. As an organization of our size, the donations that came in will make a true impact for our mission. We thank everyone who donated, as each dollar helps us save more lives.”
WDRV PD ROB CRESSMAN said, “The SHERMAN & TINGLE Show consistently advocates for the health and well-being of the pet community in CHICAGOLAND. While the show’s ability to create a unique and entertaining opportunity for pet lovers to unite was not surprising, the sheer volume of interest and colossal contributions exceeded all expectations. The SHERMAN & TINGLE Show and THE DRIVE are proud to be associated with such a worthy cause.”
