CADENCE13 is launching a new podcast, “WHY SPORTS MATTER,” hosted by GOTHAM CHOPRA, the filmmaker and partner with TOM BRADY and MICHAEL STRAHAN in RELIGION OF SPORTS. The first season will run eight episodes beginning OCTOBER 30th, with BRADY, STRAHAN, DEEPAK CHOPRA (GOTHAM's father), CONRAD ANKER, CARON BUTLER, JEMELE HILL, NATE BOYER, DAVE ZIRIN, and JARRRET STOLL among the guests.
“WHY SPORTS MATTER is a groundbreaking series of audio essays that takes uncommon stories from athletes and the sports world and distills them down to the components that reflect human nature and the values we have as members of a larger community,” said CADENCE13 Chief Content Officer CHRIS CORCORAN. “It’s expert storytelling that’s sure to appeal to all types of audiences and not just sports fans.”
“Since the formation of our company, why sports matter has been the consistent theme behind every piece of content we have generated,” said CHOPRA. “To bring that DNA into podcasting and address it head on through powerful stories that illustrate the meaning and impact of sports on individuals and communities is beyond exciting. Also, I’m a podcast addict so contributing to my own is really a profound exercise in self-fulfillment!”
“I’m excited to team up with CADENCE13 on WHY SPORTS MATTER and share these universally relatable stories,” said STRAHAN. “I look forward to our guests having the opportunity to express all that they’ve learned along their respective journeys, while showcasing how these themes translate outside the world of sports.”
“As long as I’ve been playing sports , I’ve had to fight to overcome obstacles and adversity, “ said BRADY. “Sports are more to me than wins and losses -- its emotions encompass much of my life. Being able to share stories of others like me, with similar struggles and triumphs is compelling and authentic. I couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come for RELIGION OF SPORTS.”
