BONNEVILLE News-Talk KIRO-F/SEATTLE staged a live production of "THE WAR OF THE WORLDS" before an audience at SEATTLE's EGYPTIAN THEATER THURSDAY (10/25). The performance came almost 80 years to the day of ORSON WELLES' legendary CBS "MERCURY THEATRE ON THE AIR" broadcast (OCTOBER 30th, 1938), which also aired on then-CBS affiliate KIRO.
KIRO's live broadcast starred the station's morning host DAVE ROSS with news anchors URSULA REUTIN and CAROLYN OSSORIO, host and podcaster AARON MASON, producer DREW BARTH, and News and Programming Director RYAN MAGUIRE; sister Sports KIRO-A (710 ESPN SEATTLE) PD/morning host MIKE SALK; crosstown TEGNA NBC affiliate KING-TV (KING 5) reporter JIM DEVER; and TRIBUNE MEDIA FOX affiliate KCPQ-TV (Q13 FOX) reporter BILL WIXEY. SEATTLE historian and KIRO contributor FELIKS BANEL directed the performance, which included a live band and sound effects specialist.
