Nielsen Second Quarter Total Audience Report Shows Lots Of Simultaneous Media Use, Radio Still Tops In Reach

NIELSEN'S latest Total Audience Report for second quarter 2018 shows that U.S. adults are spending ten hours and twenty-four minutes per day with media, including two hours per day with radio, five with TV (live or time shifted), and over three and a half with digital devices. Much of the use, NIELSEN says, is likely to be simultaneous.
In other highlights, radio continues to lead all media in reach, with 92% of adults listening during the average week; 19% of adults listen to podcasts each week; 24% of households own a smart speaker; The top media consumers turn out to be Adults 50-64, while Adults 18-34 spend more time on digital than TV or TV-connected devices; Black adults are spending 2 hours and 22 minutes longer per day across all media than average; And over half of Asian American households have an enabled smart TV.
