Reports: Sony Music, R. Kelly Part Ways

Multiple media sources are now reporting that SONY MUSIC has decided to end its working relationship with R. KELLY. VARIETY reports that no public announcement of the separation is forthcoming, and his catalog will remain with RCA/SONY. A new album has been in the works; now it will not be on the imprint.

The move comes after the broadcast of the LIFETIME TV documentary “Surviving R. KELLY,” where several women accuses him of sexual misconduct of the past few years. While the KELLY camp denied all charges, the pressure from outside groups on the label to split from KELLY grew exponentially.
