ALL SAINTS CATHOLIC MEDIA is transferring low power LPFM WFNE-LP/WAKE FOREST, NC to EPIC RADIO, INC. as a gift.
In other filings with the FCC, applying for STAs were MIDWEST COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (KELQ/FLANDREAU, SD, reduced power due to storm damage); PLYMOUTH ROCK BROADCASTING CO., INC. (WPLM-A/PLYMOUTH, MA, reduced power with nighttime pattern all day while repairs are made); CAPITAL BROADCASTING VA, LLC (WURA-A/QUANTICO, VA, reduced power after two towers collapsed); CHRISTIAN BROADCASTING, INC. (KVNT-A/EAGLE RIVER, AK, reduced power due to transmitter damage); CAPSTAR TX, LLC (KWHN-A/FORT SMITH, AR, long-wire antenna due to flooding); and ZETA HOLDINGS, LLC (KQMB/LEVAN, UT, temporary site to get station back on the air before license expires).
Filing for Silent STAs were MAGNUM BROADCASTING, INC. (WQKK/RENOVO, PA, "lack of reliable utilities/electricity at transmitter site") and RADIO VIDA INCORPORADO (WIDA-A/CAROLINA, PR, damage from Hurricane Maria -- filing late because licensee was unaware that it needed to file Silent STA request).
EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION has closed Hot AC WPLJ/NEW YORK, News-Talk WYAY/GAINESVILLE, GA-ATLANTA, Hot AC WRQX (MIX 107.3)/WASHINGTON, Triple A KFFG/LOS ALTOS-SAN JOSE, Hot AC WZAT (102.1 THE SOUND)/TYBEE ISLAND, GA-SAVANNAH, and Classic Rock WXTL (THE REBEL 105.9)/SYRACUSE from CUMULUS MEDIA INC. for $103.5 million. As reported last week, the stations all flipped to Contemporary Christian K-LOVE affiliates on FRIDAY evening; WYAY's new call letters are WAKL, WZAT is now WKZV, KFFG is now KJLV, and WRQX, to be WLVW, has temporarily taken the WSOM calls formerly on a SALEM, OH AM owned by CUMULUS on which the WRQX calls are being parked. WPLJ and WXTL are retaining their calls.
SEVEN HILLS MEDIA, INC. has closed on the sale of Religion WKPA-A and the construction permit for W298CN/LYNCHBURG, VA to MEL WHEELER, INC. for $205,000 ($60,000 of which went to DAVID H. MORAN for real estate).
UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN has closed on the sale of noncommercial student station KJKR/JAMESTOWN, ND to HI-LINE RADIO FELLOWSHIP, INC. for $20,000.
And GRACE PUBLIC RADIO has closed on the sale of K261CR/CHICKASHA, OK to SOUTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN BROADCASTING, INC. for $40,000.
RK MEDIA GROUP has lost its license for KHRA-A/HONOLULU. The licensee turned in its license in JUNE 2017 but had it reinstated by the end of the same month; it had until JUNE 2, 2018 to put the station back on the air, and did not respond to a letter this MARCH asking for evidence that the station had returned to broadcasting.
And RADIO TRAINING NETWORK, INC.'s license for W242BN/COMMERCE, GA has been cancelled by the FCC for failure to respond to a letter looking for evidence that the silent station returned to the air by SEPTEMBER 12, 2018.
In a deal yet to appear in the FCC database, BLISS COMMUNICATIONS, INC.'s SOUTHERN WISCONSIN BROADCASTING, LLC is selling News-Talk WCLO-A-W224DE and Country WJVL/JANESVILLE, WI to BEN THOMPSON, CEO of BIG RADIO, for an undisclosed price. KALIL & CO. served as broker for the buyer in the deal. At the same time, BLISS is selling its newspapers -- the JANESVILLE GAZETTE and the MARINETTE EAGLE HERALD, plus weeklies the JANESVILLE MESSENGER, WISCONSIN/ILLINOIS STATELINE NEWS, and WALWORTH COUNTY SHOPPER ADVERTISER -- to ADAMS PUBLISHING GROUP for an undisclosed price.
