"OPIE RADIO" has exited the WESTWOOD ONE PODCAST NETWORK and will continue as an independent for now. The podcast was with WESTWOOD ONE for a year after GREGG "OPIE" HUGHES' departure from SIRIUSXM.
OPIE said on the latest episode of his show, recorded on a drive to the JERSEY SHORE, that he is "no longer with WESTWOOD ONE. We have decided to go our own ways... for now. I did not get fired and I did not quit." He thanked WESTWOOD ONE for "giving me one of the best years of my career" but "it's time to move on and see what else is out there as far as podcasting goes."
OPIE singled out "my friend that I've known for well over 20 years" TIM SABEAN for praise, noting that SABEAN convinced him to do a podcast because "I'd go to WAR for TIM SABEAN... TIM is still my friend, I talk to him almost every day."
