To the strains of DAVID BOWIE's "Rebel Rebel," DAN LE BATARD returned to his ESPN RADIO show TUESDAY morning (7/23) after taking MONDAY off in the wake of last week's dispute with ESPN management over discussing political or racial topics. LE BATARD took the network to task for mandating that hosts avoid political topics when he criticized President TRUMP's racist comments and the "Send Her Back" chant at his rally last week. Upon his return, the show's studios were festooned with several Dumbo plush dolls from ESPN parent DISNEY.
"I'm a little scared, a little nervous, I'm walking a bit of a tightrope," LE BATARD said before being interrupted with the "PYRAMID" theme for the "Magic Crate of Content" bit, used to divert LE BATARD from more serious topics with innocuous morning show-style questions. "Now what do we do?," LE BATARD wondered after the bit was over. "Because I haven't been following sports for the last four days."
He proceeded to remain silent while the show's "Shipping Container" staff and co-host JON "STUGOTZ" WEINER discussed the CHICAGO WHITE SOX installing netting from foul pole to foul pole to protect fans from foul balls.
In his second segment, LE BATARD repeated that he is "legitimately scared" and "just need(s) to get through the next four days."
