With the closing by MAPLETON LICENSE OF CHICO, LLC of the sale of Rock KFMF (THE HIPPO) and K300AD/CHICO, CA; Top 40 KQPT (107.5 NOW FM)/COLUSA, CA; and Classic Hits KZAP/PARADISE, CA to BUSTOS MEDIA HOLDINGS, LLC for $400,000 (NET NEWS 8/1), the CHICO ENTERPRISE-RECORD reports that BUSTOS will now swap KZAP and KFMF to DEER CREEK BROADCASTING for Regional Mexican KHHZ (RADIO MEXICO LA GRAN X)/GRIDLEY-CHICO.
In addition, while DEER CREEK will keep KZAP's format as Classic Hits and add live/local hosts with MARTY GRIFFIN as PD and STEVE MICHAELS in afternoons, KFMF is flipping to a temporary simulcast of News-Talk KPAY-A-K275CO, which will lead to the KPAY format staying on the full power FM while K275CO and the former AM 1290 signal flip to Sports in SEPTEMBER as KPAY SPORTS with FOX SPORTS RADIO programming.
