ALL ACCESS sends our condolences to the family and friends of famed LOS ANGELES DJ and Dance pioneer LUCKY PIERRE.
Originally from CANADA, PIERRE worked at LOS ANGELES iconic Top 40 KHJ-A in the 60s and then in 1975 at KUTE through 1985, taking the station Dance. He later went on to work at GROOVE RADIO 103.1 where hosted 'La Discotheque en Groove 103.'
COX/TAMPA's outgoing OM RICK THOMAS was close to LUCKY PIERRE, and told ALL ACCESS, "I met LUCKY in 1981 when KUTE was in GLENDALE. He was at the time the Ops Manager. I had come out WEST from NYC and he gave me a job as a studio assistant so I could learn and grow. Lucky loved the station and its listeners. He was always out in the community. Smart music guy who discovered many great dance tracks in the Hispanic neighborhoods and put them on the radio.
"He also valued the human part of our business, always staying in touch. I remember he and BENNY MARTINEZ came to SAN DIEGO years later and visited me at a CHUCK E CHEESE appearance at Z90 was involved with. BRIAN ROBERTS and I lunched with him from time to time when I was at K-EARTH and KTWV. I will miss his friendship greatly and will forever be grateful to LUCKY."
No word on services as of yet.
