In what he terms a “company decision,” BRAD AUSTIN has departed FOREVER MEDIA, where he had been Corporate Dir./Programming for the company’s stations in WILMINGTON, DE and SALISBURY/OCEAN CITY, MD, as well as PD/afternoon host for Country WXCY/WILMINGTON. TYLER DANIEL moves from the morning “BREAKFAST BLEND” show to afternoons at WXCY, effective immediately.
AUSTIN arrived at WXCY in JULY of 2013, and was elevated to his corporate role in MAY 2016 (NET NEWS 5/16/2016). In that role, he also oversaw WILMINGTON stations Hot AC WSTW, News/Talk/Sports WDEL-A-F, and Gospel WFAI; and OCEAN CITY stations Hot AC WAFL, Classic Rock WNCL, Beach Music WAVD, Sports WYUS and News/Talk WXDE. FOREVER MEDIA acquired DELMARVA BROADCASTING in MAY.
“I leave with my head held high after six-plus years working for BOB BLOOM, who is one of the finest human beings, mentors and bosses I’ve ever known,” said AUSTIN. “I will miss my incredibly talented staff and our awesome listeners most of all, and please know that I will be rooting for all of them and especially TYLER DANIEL stepping into the afternoon slot. It’s not necessarily how I would’ve scripted the story to end, but it’s with great pride that I cheer my friends on from the sidelines as I explore what will come next.”
AUSTIN posted on FACEBOOK, “My time at 103.7 WXCY and with DELMARVA BROADCASTING CO. (then FOREVER MEDIA) was some of the best years of my life. The people who remain behind are close friends of mine and I cherish each of them, on-air and behind the scenes.”
