KEIFER THOMPSON of DAVMO RECORDS duo THOMPSON SQUARE hosted a comedy show for the first time at ZANIES COMEDY NIGHT CLUB in NASHVILLE on TUESDAY night (8/27). ALL ACCESS was on hand for the aptly titled show, "Laughs And Lyrics," which featured the artist-songwriter along with stand-up comedian DUSTY SLAY. THOMPSON's wife and duo partner, SHAWNA THOMPSON, was in the audience to cheer him on.
During the show, THOMPSON performed an original comedic song, titled "There Ain't No Branches On My Family Tree." He also invited NASHVILLE songwriter friends JIM BEAVERS, BOBBY PINSON and PAUL JENKINS to perform some of their more humorous songs as part of a mid-show writers round.
In a recent 10 Questions interview, THOMPSON opened up to ALL ACCESS about when his passion began for performing comedy, saying, "This was something that, about a year ago, I really wanted to try. My management, my wife, and [my friends] have been bugging me about doing stand-up ... I'm not trying to change my career, but just trying to have some fun."
While this was his first time hosting, THOMPSON has been performing stand-up comedy at ZANIES for a year. Watch for more of his shows to be announced there.
