BEE BROADCASTING founder BENNY BEE SR. has died at the age of 75. BEE was a self-made man who started his career as a DJ in BAKER, MT and went on to create a small market radio and media companiy based in KALISPELL-FLATHEAD VALLEY, MT.
BEE signed on News/Talk KJJR in 1979 and went on to build the group to seven stations strong. Under his guidance BEE BROADCASTING spearheaded numerous charitable organizations that raised millions of dollars over the past 40 years including CHRISTMAS AT OUR HOUSE, THE WINGS CANCER RELIEF RADIOTHON, THE TOYS FOR TOTS CAMP OUT FOR THE KIDS and THE RADIOTHON FOR THE KIDS OF ST JUDE.
BEE BROADCASTING programmer BREW MICHAELS said, “BENNY filled a much-needed entertainment void in the FLATHEAD VALLEY. Along the way he introduced NORTHWEST MONTANA to the biggest musical artists of the past half century as well as iconic news and talk hosts like PAUL HARVEY, RUSH LIMBAUGH and SEAN HANNITY. BENNY had relationships at the highest levels of politics, sports and media but was known for his open-door policy among all employees and listeners. He was a larger than life individual who loved radio and had many exciting plans for its future.”
BEE BROADCASTING honored BEE with a moment of silence THURSDAY (10/1) at 8a across the BEE BROADCASTING network. He is survived by his wife LUCY, daughter CASSIE and sons BENNY JR. and DENNIS.
