PBS affiliate WNET/NEWARK-NEW YORK is expanding to radio with the purchase of noncommercial Variety WPPB/SOUTHAMPTON, NY from PECONIC PUBLIC BROADCASTING for $944,834 plus a "Public Service Operating Agreement" before closing. WNET owns PBS affiliates WLIW-TV/GARDEN CITY, NY and, through a subsidiary, the NJTV stations, WNJN-TV/MONTCLAIR, NJ, WNJB-TV/NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, WNJT-TV/TRENTON, NJ, and WNJS-TV/CAMDEN, NJ.
In other filings with the FCC, STEPHEN C. RIGGS and MAX HOWELL are selling Silent WDSP-A/DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FL to LOGIC EDUCATIONAL NETWORK INC. for payment of FCC fees and purchase of a 1 kW ENERGY ONIX transmitter. The seller has also filed for a Silent STA for the station at the same time due to "lack of funds" pending the sale.
BLACK DIAMOND BROADCAST HOLDINGS, LLC has applied for an STA to operate WWMK/ONAWAY, MI at a lower tower height and reduced power due to the TV repack and inability of the existing transmitter to produce the full licensed power.
TKC INC. has requested an STA to operate WJMC-A/RICE LAKE, WI with an emergency wire antenna while its tower is replaced.
And EDGEWATER BROADCASTING, INC. has closed on the sale of K300CL/SHOW LOW, AZ to CASA PINON, LLC. for $21,326. The translator rebroadcasts the buyer's Adult Hits KVSL-A (REWIND 108)/SHOW LOW.
