Indie label TSR RECORDS filed a lawsuit against SONY BMG yesterday (10/18) in LOS ANGELES Federal District Court, accusing the major label of “unfairly dominating radio play lists through the use of bribes to programmers and other illicit tactics,” reports THE NEW YORK TIMES. TSR argues that SONY BMG improperly interfered with its business prospects by breaking federal and CALIFORNIA anti-trust laws and shutting independent labels out of radio playlists.
The suit, which seeks unspecified monetary damages and attorneys’ fees, was filed by TSR some three months after SONY BMG settled the highly-publicized payola case brought against it by NEW YORK Attorney General ELIOT SPITZER.
