He’s done it before, and the details are scarce, but ENTERCOM Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK host MIKE FRANCESA has told NEWSDAY’s NEIL BEST, “I am leaving afternoon drive this DECEMBER. Details to come.” BEST reported FRANCESA’s comment in a tweet TUESDAY morning.
The statement does not indicate whether he will remain in board in another role or with RADIO.COM, but another statement issued to BEST by ENTERCOM/NEW YORK Regional Pres./Market Manager SUSAN LARKIN said that FRANCESA "will continue to be part of WFAN, and will soon also have an expanded role on RADIO.COM. While we are still finalizing details, this is an exciting move to bring more of MIKE’s iconic sports talk content to fans across broadcast and digital in new, engaging ways wherever and however loyal sports fans want it. Stay tuned as we will be sharing more details in the weeks to come."
FRANCESA left WFAN once before, in late 2017, only to return less than a year later; he folded his MIKE’S ON subscription app earlier this year in a deal that promised that he would be generating additional content for RADIO.COM.
