Luke Combs, Kacey Musgraves Win Two CMA Awards Apiece, Garth Brooks Named Entertainer Of The Year

LUKE COMBS had a big night at the “53rd Annual CMA Awards” last night (11/13), taking home his first ever Male Vocalist Of The Year prize, as well as the Song Of The Year trophy for “Beautiful Crazy” (along with his co-writers, WYATT B. DURRETTE III and ROBERT WILLIFORD). KACEY MUSGRAVES was also a two-time winner, earning her first Female Vocalist Of The Year Award, as well as the Music Video prize for “Rainbow,” a category announced earlier in the day (NET NEWS 11/13).
GARTH BROOKS took home the night’s biggest award, Entertainer Of The Year, for the seventh time. He holds the CMA record for wins in this category.
MAREN MORRIS won her first Album Of The Year award for “Girl.” BLAKE SHELTON won the first CMA Single Of The Year award of his career for “God’s Country.” Both MORRIS and SHELTON dedicated their wins to songwriter/producer BUSBEE, who passed away in SEPTEMBER (NET NEWS 9/29).
DAN + SHAY won their first CMA Vocal Duo Of The Year prize. OLD DOMINION scored the Vocal Group Of The Year trophy for the second time. ASHLEY MCBRYDE was crowned New Artist Of The Year.
In another award announced earlier in the day, the Musical Event Of The Year winner was "Old Town Road (Remix)" by LIL NAS X featuring BILLY RAY CYRUS. That prize was shared with producers YOUNGKIO, MICHAEL TRENT REZNOR and ATTICUS MATTHEW ROSS.
Finally. fiddle player JENEE FLEENOR was named Musician Of The Year for the first time, an award presented prior to the show’s telecast on ABC-TV. FLEENOR made history as the first woman to have ever won the that award.
