CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY RADIO, INC. is selling Religion WLUJ and W287CK/SPRINGFIELD, IL; Religion WLWJ/PETERSBURG, IL; Religion WRLJ/WHITE HALL, IL; Religion WJWR and W284BT/BLOOMINGTON, IL; Religion WLLM-A, W287BP and W261AF/LINCOLN, IL; Religion WLLM-F/CARLINVILLE, IL; Religion WHPA/MACOMB, IL;W228BG/BEARDSTOWN, IL; W261CQ/DECATUR, IL; and W228BB/JACKSONVILLE, IL to GOOD NEWS RADIO, INC. for $1.1 million ($10,000 down, $90,000 at closing, $1 million in a promissory note).
In other filings with the FCC, the price by which TED TUCKER's COCHISE BROADCASTING, LLC is selling Classic Hits KXJW/NORTH ROCK SPRINGS, WY and KWXR/RELIANCE, WY to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION is $98,000. As is its custom, broker KALIL & CO., INC. did not disclose the price when the deal was announced last week.
WORLD RADIO NETWORK, INC. is selling W208BF/ELKHART IN and W207BF/GOSHEN, IN to OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY for $30,000. The primary station is Contemporary Christian WONU (SHINE.FM 89.7)/KANKAKEE, IL.
HERITAGE RADIO SOCIETY INC. has applied for an STA to operate WYAR/YARMOUTH, ME at reduced power due to equipment damage from a wind storm.
STAR EDUCATIONAL MEDIA NETWORK, INC. has applied for an extension of its Silent STA for W249BG/RICHMOND, IN after losing its site.
And FAMILY STATIONS, INC. has closed on the sale of Religion WFBF (now WBKV)/BUFFALO; WFRH/KINGSTON, NY; WFRP/AMERICUS, GA; WFRC/COLUMBUS, GA; and W282BI/CATSKILL, NY to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $1.4 million.
Also, the FCC has approved the sale of COX MEDIA GROUP's TV and radio stations to APOLLO GLOBAL MANAGEMENT's TERRIER MEDIA, which is becoming the "new" COX MEDIA GROUP, for $3.1 million for the TV stations and $500,000 for the radio group, and the transfer of NORTHWEST BROADCASTING's TV stations, also acquired by APOLLO GLOBAL MANAGEMENT, to the combined entity, which has also acquired the COX REPS, INC. rep firm and CCI NEWS SERVICE, INC. The buyer, officially TERRIER MEDIA BUYER, INC. and its CAMELOT RADIO BUYER, INC. subsidiary, is 77% owned by APOLLO's AP IX TITAN MEDIA HOLDINGS, L.P., with COX ENTERPRISES retaining a majority of the remainder and NORTHWEST BROADCASTING's principals BRIAN BRADY, BRISTLECONE, LLC, and JASON R. WOLFF holding the rest.
Also approved are the spinoff of Top 40 WPYO (POWER 95.3)/MAITLAND-ORLANDO and Alternative WSUN (97X)/HOLIDAY-TAMPA (plus boosters in ST. PETERSBURG and PINELLAS PARK) to a trust, CXR RADIO, LLC, headed by ELLIOT B. EVERS. TERRIER will also have to surrender one television license in each of the SYRACUSE (ABC affiliate WNYS-TV or FOX affiliate WSYT-TV) and YUMA (CBS affiliate KSWT-TV or NBC affiliate KYMA-DT, both operated by NEWS-PRESS AND GAZETTE CO.) TV markets within 30 days of closing.
