USA RADIO NETWORK's "CLASSIC CHRISTMAS RADIO THEATER WITH WYATT COX" is celebrating its 20th anniversary this season. The show, originally "CHRISTMAS ON THE RADIO," launched in 1999 on five stations and now airs on 50 stations nationwide, with affiliates including FRED WEINBERG's News-Talk KNNR-A/SPARKS-RENO and the NEVADA TALK NETWORK, News-Talk KBDT-A/DALLAS, and News-Talk KQSP-A/SHAKOPEE-MINNEAPOLIS; NRG MEDIA News-Talk KXEL-A/WATERLOO, IA; RESORT BROADCASTING News-Talk WGMD/REHOBOTH BEACH, DE; ELGIN COMMUNITY BROADCASTING News-Talk WRMN-A/ELGIN, IL; CUMULUS News-Talk KMAJ-A/TOPEKA; and NEBRASKA RURAL RADIO ASSOCIATION News-Talk KRVN-A/LEXINGTON, NE.
“Keeping Classic Radio alive has been a passion of mine, and producing CLASSIC RADIO THEATER every day and CLASSIC CHRISTMAS RADIO THEATER every year has been truly a labor of love,” said COX. “I thank FRED WEINBERG who was instrumental in the creation of the show in the first place. Letting me bring this program to the USA RADIO NETWORK has given me a broader stage to introduce a new generation to Classic Radio and what the Theater of the Mind is all about.”
“Twenty years ago, WYATT COX had an idea," said WEINBERG, President of USA RADIO NETWORK. “Let's give every radio station which wants one a gift by giving them 24 hours of great programming with little or no need for human intervention on CHRISTMAS day. Time flies, when we're having fun.”
