KVGS Flipping From Urban AC To Alternative

RIVIERA BROADCAST GROUP Urban AC KVGS (V108)/LAS VEGAS is flipping to Alternative as "AREA 108" at 4p today (10/21). RIVIERA, which also owns Alternative KEDJ/PHOENIX, recently acquired the station from DESERT SKY. The call letters will remain KVGS.

Ex-CLEAR CHANNEL Hot AC KYSR (START 98.7)/LOS ANGELES PD ANGELEA PERELLI is assisting with the programming for the launch of the station, while VP/GM KEN CHRISTENSEN searches for a permanent programmer for AREA 108. The KVGS call letters will remain. AREA 108 is being consulted by JACOBS MEDIA's DAVE BEASING. JACOBS MEDIA had a successful run with the market's former Alternative KEDG (THE EDGE) in the '90s.

RIVIERA CEO TIM POHLMAN said, "We did our homework and discovered that Alternative music fans in LAS VEGAS don't have a station. Now AREA 108 is that station."
