As you read this PALM BEACH BROADCSTING Hot AC WRMF/W. PALM BEACH is "the little operator, with the generator that just won't quit," according to PD BOB NEUMANN.
"The rest of the market is either simulcasting or off the air in the wake of HURRICANE WILMA. We've been acting as an on-air clearing house for listener's needs in terms of water, food, fuel, and ice. Power for most the area is out. The wind damage is amazing. Telephone poles sheered off, storm shutters ripped off the hinges, and PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is closed indefinitely due to the storm damage."
NEUMANN continued, "The gas shortage is terrible -- the stations along the FLORIDA TURNPIKE are the places where most of the accessible gas is located, as most gas stations do not have power. The lines along the turnpike stretch at least three miles. Officials are estimating that it could be as long as month before power is fully restored."
