Ray Didinger Retiring From WIP/Philadelphia

RAY DIDINGER, the PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME sportswriter, has announced his retirement from his weekend show on AUDACY Sports WIP/PHILADELPHIA, effective after MAY 29th's show, saying that he is "ready to transition from 'RAY DIDI' to grandpop."
DIDINGER, 75, is a familiar and popular figure in PHILADELPHIA sports media, covering the EAGLES and NFL football for the PHILADELPHIA BULLETiN in 1969-1980 and PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS from 1980 through 1996, then, after writing for NFL FILMS, serving as an analyst at COMCAST SPORTSNET/NBC SPORTS PHILADELPHIA. He started his career while majoring in journalism at TEMPLE UNIVERSITY, working on the school's WRTI handling play-by-play of OWLS basketball and baseball and analysis for football, then spent one year as a general news reporter at the DELAWARE COUNTY DAILY TIMES before joining THE BULLETIN in 1970. He has co-written several books and a play, "TOMMY AND ME."
DIDINGER hosted many shows for WIP for decades, most recently co-hosting weekend middays with former INQUIRER writer GLEN MACNOW, and regularly appeared as a football analyst on other shows on the station.
