The INDEPENDENT BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION is adding a syndication platform for member stations, allowing the stations to offer shows to other members on a cash basis. Members can submit shows for consideration by the syndication committee at the IBA website.
ILIAD MEDIA GROUP CEO DARRELL CALTON, who devised the plan along with MIDLANDS MEDIA GROUP CEO KEITH STOVER, said, “We did this for IBA members and to cut down on barter deals that eat up our inventory and cause us to be left off buys for actual cash. Whether you’re a station in need of outside talent, or a station with a show to syndicate, the process of participating in the IBA syndication opportunity has been made extremely easy. Several shows available for syndication are already up on the site, and I encourage IBA members in need of programming to log in to their account and visit the syndication page.”
“One of the most costly expenditures for independent radio is paying for syndication, whether by cash, barter or a combination thereof,” said IBA Founder/Pres./Exec. Dir. RON STONE. “Our goal is to provide our IBA members with an opportunity to choose cost-effective talent from other IBA members and eliminate the need to give local inventory to large networks that sell to the very clients we used to do business with nationally, and at far better prices than network pricing. This, I believe, is a huge opportunity to get back inventory used against us at extremely low prices.
“This only works when members with great talent participate and members needing great talent utilize it,” STONE added.
